Barbecue with The Gibraltar Sea Scouts

We had a fantastic barbecue with the Gibraltar Sea Scouts who laid on a great array of local cuisine. We met up with members of the Sea Scouts and everyone had a great time. Thanks to everyone who put together the food.

The Visit to Tangiers, Morroco (That’s Africa)

Not only did the Explorers visit another 2 countries today, they visited another continent!!

The morning started very early with the coach leaving at 7.15am from the hostel, after crossing the the Spanish boarder we progressed on to the port, where we boarded a ferry for Tangiers. 1.5 Hours later we had arrived in Africa.

After spending some time with some camels (and some people trying to sell things), we got a tour on coach around the new part of the city. We moved onto some lunch which was vegatable soup and Couscous.

We then visited a big carpet shop and various other stuff (dont ask me why I found it bizzare) and a ‘pharmacy’ which was flogging various perfumes and herbs (which you can find anywhere in the UK). For a good part of this time we were being asked to buy all sorts of mechandise! Some people learned how to say no quicker than others!

So the Explorers came back with a experience of a totally different culture and they all enjoyed it.

The Cable Car to the Top of the Rock

On Thursday the Explorers got a cable car to the top of ‘The Rock, had a look at the spectacular views and had a great time. We the went on to have a look around St Michael’s Cave and as the Sun was getting a bit hot we then went back down the rock using the cable car.
The Explorers finished off the day with some shopping and chilling before an early night to get up early the next day for Tangiers, Morroco. Photographs from Thursday are posted below.

The group boarded the aircraft from Gate 9 in Terminal 1, and after a short delay of 1 hour, took off at 0750. We arrived at Gibraltar approximate 3 hours later at 1140 Gibraltar time.
